We happily cater to guests requiring medication during their stay; however, we do have some requirements. If your pet requires medication, please read the information below prior to bringing them in for their stay.
Any dietary supplements (such as fish oil, 4cyte, etc.) are considered medication and are subject to all terms and conditions for other medications, except for the prescription label.
Medication Check-ins
During check-in, we will discuss your pet’s medication requirements. At this time, we will document the dosage, administration times, and preferred method of administration. You will be required to sign a medication form that confirms these requirements. Please allow extra time, as it is important to confirm these details, and it can take time if your pet has multiple medications.
Medication Packaging
All medication must be presented in the original packaging, with the original prescription instructions. The instructions label must include:
- Name of medication
- Date prescribed
- Dosage
- Vet name and contact details
We will adhere to the dosage instructions on the prescription label. If your pet currently receives a different dosage than what the label instructs, please provide updated instructions from your vet.
Please do not decant medication into a different container, such as pill organisers, or provide a strip of medication without the box. Do not premix the medication into food, as this can reduce its effectiveness.
Medication Charge
A surcharge for administering medication may apply. This will be quoted when you submit your booking request.
Medication Supply
You are responsible for ensuring you supply enough medication for the length of your pet’s stay, or provide instructions for when the medication runs out.
We recommend supplying more medication than required to cover your pet in case their stay is extended unexpectedly.
Medication Expiry
You are responsible for ensuring the provided medication has not expired. We cannot administer expired medication.
Insulin-dependency
Hedgegrove Pet Retreat cannot accept insulin-dependent pets. Please contact the team for options.
